The north west PAA group have been meeting monthly since March 2016.
We have been invited to present and take part in various events including an Inclusivity conference in Lancaster, Mental Health and Welfare Reform conference in Liverpool, and with Manchester DClinPsy trainees.
We are currently focusing our efforts on three levels:
Contributing to the evidence base – seperate research projects looking at the impact of Work Capability Assessments on mental health and traumatic brain injury.
Networking – We have developed close links with Social Work Action Network (SWAN), Free Psychotherapy Network, Manchester Metropolitan University, Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC).
Grass roots – We are currently organising a PAA event in February 2017 incorporating community psychology principles and engaging local community groups.
Events for 2017
January – NWPAA monthly meeting in Manchester, time and location tbc
February 18th – Fair Living Festival, Manchester.
The festival will be a free event and will include the launch of the 3rd PAA briefing paper. More details will follow soon.
The north west includes lots of passionate and engaged people and we hope to use this energy in 2017. We therefore welcome any ideas and suggestions you may have. We appreciate that time can be limited and coming to meetings can prove difficult but if you would like to get involved come along to one of our meetings or please feel free to contact us via email/twitter and get involved from a distance!
We would appreciate any help and/or suggestions for our event in February too.
We look forward to hearing from you soon
